What is Splitz?
Splitz is a mobile app for sharing expenses with friends, family or roommates. It lets you scan receipts, split every expense between group members and automatically calculates who owes how much to whom.
Is Splitz free?
Yes. Splitz is free to download and the essential features (unlimited groups, unlimited expenses, repayment calculation, real-time sync) are free too. An optional subscription unlocks premium features such as unlimited receipt scans and recurring expenses.
How does receipt scanning work?
Take a photo of your receipt or invoice from within the app. Splitz uses optical character recognition (OCR) to automatically detect every item and its price. All you have to do is assign items to the right people: the split is calculated instantly.
Which devices is Splitz available on?
Splitz is available on iPhone and iPad through the App Store, and on Android through Google Play. Groups sync in real time between iOS and Android members.
How does Splitz work out who owes what?
Every time an expense is added, Splitz updates each member's balance and computes the smallest number of repayments needed to settle the group. Splitz does not process any bank transactions: you pay each other back with your usual payment method, then record the repayment in the app.
Does everyone need to install the app?
No. You can add "guest" participants to a group even if they don't have Splitz yet. They receive a personal link to join whenever they like, and their expenses are counted from the start.
Can I use Splitz when travelling abroad?
Yes. Splitz supports 139 currencies with real-time exchange rates. Each expense can be entered in its original currency and is automatically converted into the group's currency.
Is Splitz an alternative to Tricount or Splitwise?

Is my data protected?
Yes. Your data is hosted on servers located in the European Union and encrypted in transit and at rest. Receipt photos are deleted once the information has been extracted and are never used to train algorithms. Splitz never sells your data and complies with the GDPR.
